Go, Go Girl!
A motorsports flag girl caught in full triumphant leap, checkered flag raised against a rosy dawn sky billowing with the magnificent dust of victory. Painted in muted periwinkle tones in the grand tradition of Maxfield Parrish — luminous, cloudswept, unapologetically romantic.
Go, Go Girl! was conceived during a golden summer in Baden-Baden, Germany, where the volcanically-heated springs of the Black Forest give way, just beyond the treeline, to the great factories of German engineering. It was there — surrounded by a culture that takes genuine, unironic pride in doing things beautifully and doing them well — that this painting announced itself. In a season when Germany quietly models what democratic compassion can look like, the proud joy of that landscape felt like the right backdrop for a girl who signals victory.
She is painted tall and vertical, as befits someone in mid-leap. Her dawn is anyone's dawn. The flag is for everyone.
