Phoenix Sabine

Class and nobility is a distinguishing characteristic of the elegant orchid, and it suits this refined phoenix perfectly. However, there’s another note to orchid that expresses itself in this lovely model as well.

“Where other flowers cloak their reproductive goods within silky petals…orchid says: ‘Uh huh…here’s my sassy stuff, enjoy, love me, cherish me.” In fact, the orchid is so self-assured of her beautiful reproductive parts, that often she’s able to self-pollinate. What does this mean on a symbolic level? It talks about self love. Loving ourselves to such a degree that we can create our own offspring in the form of dreams, goals, art, projects, connections. I think of all the lessons the orchid shares with us, self-love is the most vital.” — Avia

Phoenix Sabine: In Her Own Words

Truly like a Phoenix rising from the ashes……after a double mastectomy, chemo, hair loss, radiation-accompanied by an infection where one implant had to be removed and my back lat muscle moved to my chest, double digit surgeries….I no longer recognized myself.

While health wise, I had reached the other side and felt ever so grateful to have survived, I had become a physical alien to myself.  My skin was so scarred from the surgeries, skin grafting, fat placement, discoloration… it was my new reality.

While contemplating nipple tattooing, I thought, “If they can tattoo nipples, why not something else, something more beautiful and meaningful?” And that’s when I found Friday.  I love orchids and we got to work transforming my “Franken-Boobs” into beautiful works of art.

I am ever so grateful to have met Friday - she has transformed me, both physically and mentally; I have reclaimed my personal power.  I am always so excited to “flash” my artwork and share what I went through, to hopefully give others some light in what they are going through.

Everyday I look at myself in the mirror and smile.
